Day 9 (July 6) (106 Miles) by Madison

This morning we got up to a rain-washed outside. We left at about 9:45. It has been cloudy and very hilly. Good shoulders on the road with lots of big truck traffic. On our trip today we saw a coyote and a black bear; the bear looked right at us when we rang the bell on the tandem. While in the car, Race and I entertained ourselves by playing sound-effect chopsticks and the dreaded quiet game. We went 106 miles today. Dad went the whole way; Mom 56; Gage 50;Gavin 30;Madison (me) 30; and Race 20. We are staying at a R.V park for the night; the people were kind enough to let us stay on a tenting area in the back. We are close to the showers and bathrooms. Today, we have gone pretty far, and fortunately, nothing has gone wrong. We’ll write, I mean type, for tomorrow. Well, ta ta for now.

Hi Guys! We just got back from Iowa and this is the first time I've had a chance to check your blog...read ALL your entries.
All I can say is WOW!!! Can't believe all the wildlife you're seeing. Sounds like a lot of rain but pretty much on schedule? Sounds like a lot of pizza and P&J sandwhiches too...yum yum.
Okay...will check back in a few days. Remember Race...DON'T FEED THE BEARS!!

As usual, the Owen Family never ceases to amaze me. The pictures are gorgeous and those biking outfits are nothing short of spandexy. Good Luck on the rest of your journey and God Bless.

Hello Owens! What a joy it is to find new postings on your blog. It's been fun to plot your progrss on the map. Since my folks don't have internet, I've printed off pages of your blog for them to read as Dad recovers from his heart attack. He will LOVE reading the blogs and getting into great detail on the map (He's the MAP KING) I have been praying for your traveling mercies! It must be quite an experience getting so up-close and personal with a logging truck which can be unnerving in a car, so I can't imagaine being on a bike---(GULP!) Much Love, KBVH and Family

Hey gang! Sounds like your great adventure really is, so far, though the pictures belie your accounts of rain... Absolutely beautiful.

Sorry to hear about Dash's hair loss. Poor pup. Zephyr can sympathize. She doesn't know it yet, but she is about to get shorn again, too.

Tamsey and I are enjoying the account. Have a safe trip, and keep the stories coming.

Max
